LAND O' LAKES - Prizes, food and recreation will be offered at the Seaport Sertoma 12th Annual Sporting Clay Classic, scheduled for today in Land O' Lakes.
Sponsored by the Seaport Sertoma Club in Tampa, the event kicks off at 8 a.m. at Deer Creek Sporting Clays, 10514 Ehren Cutoff. Proceeds will benefit the group's charities, including Sertoma Speech and Hearing in New Port Richey, Support Our Troops in Wesley Chapel, Sertoma Youth Ranch, Sertoma Camp Endeavor, Baldomero Lopez Veterans Nursing Home in Land O'Lakes, Tampa Port Ministries and the SS America Victory Museum.
"One hundred percent of what we raise, after the expenses of the event are paid, goes to one of our charities," said Harvey Rhinehart, vice president of events and publicity for Seaport Sertoma.
For an admission price of $125 a shooter, guests can compete for prizes in a 10-station clay shoot.
"At the 10 stations 50 points can be scored," Rhinehart said. "Clay pigeons are released at different angles, and the shooter gets a point for each one he/she shoots."
Guests also will enjoy a barbecue dinner of pork, sausage, chicken and baked beans; and buy tickets to win items such as gift certificates in an event drawing.
