TAMPA - University of South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels is busy preparing to face Rutgers' blitzing defense on Thursday night, but he took the time to answer a couple of questions about his basketball future on Monday.
Does he still plan to play basketball this season?
"I'm not thinking about it right now, but yes, I am,'' Daniels said.
Does he stay in contact with his basketball teammates?
"I see them around campus and things like that. Other than that, no,'' Daniels said.
Daniels played sparingly for the Bulls last season, appearing in 19 games and averaging just 2.8 minutes per contest. With USF coach Stan Heath's roster stocked deeper this year, Daniels may have a more difficult time finding playing time as a backup guard.
Daniels' desire to play football and basketball was a major factor in his decision to come to USF. Regardless of what the future holds for his basketball career, Daniels won't turn his attention to basketball until after football season ends.
