TAMPA - After the rains from Tropical Storm Ida are over Wednesday, a front should bring the Tampa Bay area its coolest temperatures in nearly a month to finish off the workweek.
The National Weather Service office in Ruskin forecasts about a 10-degree drop in afternoon temperatures, with the daytime highs pinned in the low 70s for Thursday and Friday. The last time daytime temperatures were in the 70s was the middle of October.
The forecast also calls for mornings around the Bay area in the 50s on Thursday and Friday, with high 40s in Hernando County on Friday morning.
The cooler weather isn't expected to last long, though. Things start warming Saturday to the low 80s in the daytime, or about where temperatures should be in early November.
Some forecast models, however, are calling for temperatures 10 degrees above normal by Monday, though other models are keeping temperatures in the low 80s. So far, forecasters are buying into models that expect the cooler temperatures, though there is a chance of temperatures marching back into the high 80s by the start of next week.
