PORT RICHEY - A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a $70,000 jewelry heist.
Demetre George Sakelson turned himself in to Pasco County detectives Tuesday to face felony burglary business and grand theft charges, the sheriff's office said.
Sakelson forced open the door of Custom Jewelry Creations, 9239 U.S. 19, about 11 p.m. Nov. 2 and stole men's and women's diamond wedding bands and several loose diamonds from display cases, a report states.
The burglary was recorded by the store's video security system. The store's owner has known Sakelson for nearly 30 years and identified him from the video, the report states. He told detectives he recently fired Sakelson.
Sakelson, of 2238 Lark Circle West, No. 2D, in Palm Harbor, was being held at the Land O' Lakes Jail.
Anyone who has purchased jewelry from Sakelson recently should call the sheriff's office at (727) 844-7711.
