The police shooting of a St. Petersburg man who led authorities on a chase, rammed a cruiser and fired at officers was justified, the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office said today.
The incident began Oct. 29 when a deputy tried to pull over a Ford Mustang that was being driven erratically. The pursuit ended when Kentin Brooks, 26, crashed the Mustang into a utility pole at Gulf Boulevard near Park Boulevard in Indian Shores.
Brooks had shot at officers from the Mustang, hitting the windshields of two cruisers, authorities said. Pinellas sheriff's deputies and an Indian Shores police officer returned fire, killing Brooks.
