TAMPA - A Tampa man was sentenced to the maximum 30-year prison sentence today for stabbing his wife to death.
Deon Griffin, 35, was convicted in October of manslaughter with a weapon.
Chanet Griffin's body was found April 29, 2008, in an abandoned apartment at 7351 Bonita Vista Way in Tampa. The couple lived next door. Griffin, 26, had been stabbed 15 times and bled to death. She was a child protection investigator for the Florida Department of Children & Families.
Her husband was arrested two days later at a downtown Salvation Army facility. After killing his wife, authorities said, Griffin took her grandmother's Toyota Corolla and sold it for crack cocaine.
