Inside the sport utility vehicle of a man who falsely claimed to be a police officer, investigators found a black BB gun, handcuffs, a folding knife, a flashlight and a ballistic vest, Temple Terrace police say.
Police arrested Noah Miller, 23, of Temple Terrace, shortly before 3 a.m. today. He was charged with false imprisonment and falsely impersonating a police officer.
Miller works for a Tampa security company, Michael D. Dunn, Temple Terrace public information officer, said this morning. "It's not known what his intentions were," Dunn said.
Police say Miller pulled his SUV behind a 21-year-old woman's vehicle about 2:38 a.m. today.
"She pulled into a parking space, and the car that was behind her hesitated and then reversed," an arrest report states. "The female decided to drive off and make a loop around the neighborhood, and she called 911. She pulled into a different parking space where only residents go and the car followed her."
Miller asked the woman to roll her window down, and she said no. He told her he was a police officer and that he wanted her to roll her window down, police say. She opened her window slightly, and he asked her what she was doing there and if she lived in the neighborhood.
The woman was still on the phone with Temple Terrace police, and dispatchers recommended she ask to see the man's badge. Miller told her it was in his vehicle, and he went back to the SUV and drove off, police say.
Police stopped Miller's vehicle as he was leaving the area.
Miller remains in jail, with bail set at $4,000.
