Teenage boy dies after Tampa shooting

TAMPA - A teenager who was shot in the chest twice Wednesday afternoon died from the gunshot wounds, Tampa police said.

The victim died just after 10 p.m. at Tampa General Hospital, police said.

Police were called to a shooting at 201 N. 26th St. When officers arrived, they found the 17-year-old boy lying on the sidewalk in front of the vacant building. He was shot twice in the chest, police said.

He told police that two males approached him and one shot him. The suspects ran eastbound after the shooting, police said.

The suspects haven't been found. The name of the victim has not been released because next of kin has not been notified.

One suspect was between 17 and 21 years old. He wore a red shirt and black jeans. He also was walking a white pit bull puppy.

The second suspect was wearing a black shirt. There was no other information on the suspects at this time, police said.
