TAMPA - A teenager is in fair condition a day after being shot three times during an attempted robbery.
The two suspects remain at large.
The shooting occurred about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday behind the Publix at 7018 W. Waters Ave. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies say the 19-year-old victim and two other men were walking behind the Publix when they were approached by the suspects.
The two suspects pointed handguns and told the three men they were being robbed.
As the three men ran, the suspects shot several rounds, striking the 19-year-old in the elbow, side and buttocks, the sheriff's office said. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
The other two men were not injured.
The suspects are about 18 years old and were both wearing black hooded sweatshirts and denim shorts.
