PALM BEACH - A state Department of Children and Families employee is accused of stealing from an elderly woman with dementia whose case she was assigned to.
Thirty-three-year-old Mindi Marie Berry was arrested Wednesday by Palm Beach Police. The case worker allegedly copied her 85-year-old client's financial documents and made ATM withdrawals and debit card purchases from the woman's bank account.
All told, authorities say Berry stole more than $1,500.
DCF says Berry had worked for the agency for 10 months. She was fired Wednesday.
It was not immediately clear if Berry had an attorney.
