Deputies ID man fatally shot at Tampa gas station

TAMPA - Hillsborough deputies have released the identity of a man fatally shot outside a Citgo gas station Wednesday night.

He is Anthony J. Prather, 25, of Tampa.

Deputies said he was shot at 8:08 p.m. at 2245 E. Fletcher Ave. in what likely was a drug-related incident.

According to a report, Prather drove to the gas station. Shortly after, an unknown man walked to the car and entered it, the sheriff's office said. Shots were fired inside the car, and the assailant ran from the scene.

Prather car got out and walked to the front of the gas station, where he collapsed. He died at a local hospital, deputies said.

The suspect is a 6-foot-6 black man with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black pants, and he was armed with a handgun.

It is thought that the incident might be drug-related because of the quantity of drugs found in the victim's car, the sheriff's office said.
