JUPITER - JUPITER (AP) — The Board of Governors has ordered Florida's 11 state universities to develop work plans that identify their "unique missions."
The panel approved a new regulation today that requires each school to submit a such a plan and annual report with accountability measures designed to show how well it's putting scare resources to the best use possible.
State University System Chancellor Frank Brogan said the board will mesh the individual work plans into a larger strategic vision that anticipates the needs of the state and its residents while avoiding duplication.
Board chairwoman Sheila McDevitt said the plans are not glamorous but important to the system's efficiency and effectiveness.
