Thank you, Tribune, for your Wednesday article on Mallory Code ("Code's fight inspired scores," front page, Nov. 11).
I had the privilege of baby-sitting her older brother, Jordan, years ago, before Mallory was born, and even though I was just a high schooler myself then, I was so impressed with Mallory's parents. Their wisdom, grace and love for their children was so evident in Mallory's many successess. She touched the lives of so many people.
"My life is perfect in almost every way," the Tribune quoted Mallory as saying in 2001. My goodness, what parent - particularly parents who constantly faced the health concerns of their child, as Karen and Brian Code did - would not take comfort in such a wonderful testimonial?
Mallory's life is an inspiration to us all - an invitation to see the good in things, to work hard despite obstacles and to think first and foremost about someone other than ourselves. Mallory did all these things. Her achievements are a testament to her faith and to her wonderful family. Blessings to all of the Codes.
