A pedestrian is in critical condition tonight after being struck by a car while walking on State Road 60, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
The male pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was walking across S.R. 60 just east of the signal controlling traffic coming off State Road 93-A at about 6 p.m., according to a report. He was wearing dark clothing.
He walked into the path of an eastbound 2005 Kia van driven by Mary K. Chislom, 62, of Sun City Center. The van's front right corner struck the pedestrian, the report said.
The pedestrian was taken to Tampa General Hospital. Chislom was not injured, according to deputies
The outside eastbound lanes of S.R. 60 were closed for two hours during the investigation, which is ongoing.
