Three people were hurt today in a two-car collision in Polk County, deputies said.
According to a sheriff's office report, this is what happened:
At 2:31 p.m., a 2002 Ford driven by Joyce V. Johnson, 53, of Winter Haven was stopped for a stop sign on 29th Street Northwest at the intersection with Havendale Boulevard, Meanwhile, a 2004 Dodge pickup driven by Lealon K. Curles, 44, of Winter Haven was headed west on Havendale in the left lane.
The Ford pulled out onto Havendale to turn left, and Johnson did not see the Dodge coming toward her. The Dodge hit the left side of the Ford as it made its way to the inside lane of Havendale.
Johnson was taken to Heart of Florida Hospital in Haines City, where she is listed in critical condition. Curles and a passenger in the Dodge, Deana L. Simmons, 39, of Winter Haven were taken to Winter Haven Hospital, where she is listed in serious condition. Curles' received minor injuries.
Everyone involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
