PASCO...37 WIREGRASS...10
WESLEY CHAPEL - Running back Janarion Grant has an affinity for the end zone.
The Pasco freshman scored each of the Pirates' five touchdowns Friday night, en route to a victory against Wiregrass Ranch, collecting the program's second consecutive Sunshine Athletic Conference title.
"Janarion's a special kid. He's got special talents," Pasco coach Tom McHugh said. "He's just one of those kinds of kids that if he keeps working, I know we'll hear a lot about him."
On the Pirates' opening drive, Grant carried the ball on four of the possession's five plays. His final gain was a 1-yard touchdown off the left side. Grant, who ended the night with 14 carries for 130 yards, four rushing touchdowns and one receiving, finished off the Pirates' second drive with a 5-yard scoring burst and the 14-0 advantage.
The Bulls' first score came on a 35-yard field goal by Steven Esoff with 4:14 left in the second quarter. Wiregrass wouldn't score again until the opening moments of the third quarter when Bulls return man Blake Burch navigated the Pasco kick coverage for a 94-yard score, cutting into its deficit, 21-10.
