A 17-year-old died Friday in Dundee after losing control of her vehicle and striking another, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., Amber Shaw of Eagle Lake was driving a green Hyundai westbound on Dundee Road, just west of Carl Floyd Road, when for unknown reasons she left the roadway onto the north grassy shoulder, the report said.
When the car returned onto Dundee Road, it began to rotate, entering into the eastbound lane and into the path of 52-year-old Lucinda Shelby of Winter Haven, who was driving a beige Chevrolet.
The Chevrolet struck the driver's side of Shaw's vehicle. The teen was declared dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services, the report said.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, both airbags deployed, and both drivers were the only occupants in each vehicle, the report said.
Shelby was not injured in the crash and declined medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing, the report said.
