Hillsborough deputy injured in car crash

A vehicle drove into the southbound lanes of Anderson Road at Waters Avenue and collided with a Hillsborough deputy's patrol car.

TAMPA - A Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy is recovering today after an early morning car crash.

The deputy was responding to an emergency call when his cruiser was struck by another vehicle at Anderson Road and Waters Avenue about 3:30 a.m. today, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Another deputy drove the injured deputy to a hospital for treatment. The injuries are believed to be minor, Carter said.

The names of the deputy and the other driver have not been released.

The investigation into the crash continues.
