PLANT CITY - Put on your checkered bib and bring your appetite because it's Pig Jam time.
The day of fun is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Randy L. Larson Softball Four-Plex at 1500 S. Park Road, near Plant City Stadium.
The seventh-annual jam, sponsored by the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, includes games, music, college football on big screens and barbecue for purchase.
Self-proclaimed founding father of the Pig Jam, Mark Poppell, said he expects the festival to draw the usual 15,000 spectators.
"It's like the circus. It's for all ages. Some people will be there because they're barbecue enthusiasts, but you're gonna have things for the kids. There will be a rock climbing wall and bungee jumping. You can bring the whole family, and the whole family will find something to entertain them," he said.
Chamber of Commerce President Marion Smith said the Pig Jam has been a big hit.
"It is a family event, and there are activities for the kids. Also, for those who can't get away from watching football, we have big screen televisions out there in a Budweiser sponsored tent. There's a lot of barbecue cooking, and we do have barbecue vendors," she said.
There's no admission fee, but parking costs $5. For information, call the chamber of commerce at (813) 754-3707 or go to www.plantcity.org.
