ORLANDO - Walt Disney World is putting its weight behind Central Florida's bid for $2.5 billion in federal money to construct a high-speed train that links Orlando and Tampa.
Disney officials said this week they will support a stop at the Orange County Convention Center as well as provide up to 50 acres of free land for a station.
But there is intense competition for the federal money.
Nearly 280 communities have already submitted applications for the $8 billion set aside by the Obama administration and Congress for high-speed mass transit systems.
