Pasco deputies are investigating two unrelated shootings that occurred early Thursday.
The first was just before 2 a.m., when a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg while crossing State Road 54 and Dean Dairy Road in Zephyrhills, Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll said.
The man's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, Doll said.
Paramedics took him to a local hospital after treating him at the Hardee's at 36502 S.R. 54.
A half-hour later, deputies were called to a shooting on Lake Joyce in the Lake Padgett Estates area. They found a man shot in the head but alive, Doll said.
The man told deputies he had been robbed, Doll said.
"What he's telling us and what the evidence is showing doesn't add up," Doll said. "It's possible it was self-inflicted."
Deputies are investigating the incident and are releasing few details.
Deputies think the man was alone when he was shot and had been on a boat at some point, Doll said, adding, "It's possible the shooting occurred on the boat."
The man was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital. Doll said the man was able to talk to detectives after the shooting, but his condition Thursday wasn't clear.
