Our country is becoming more polarized every day. The accusations, blame and vitriolic condemnation coming from every contingency is appalling. People grab sound bites and snippets of half-truths and toss them around as facts.
Real knowledge about any subject requires research, listening, reading, discussion and comprehension. You can't expect to get the whole picture about what's going on, or even reach an informed opinion, if you read only one newspaper, periodical or view one TV station.
People who build their opinions on a flimsy foundation of half-truths are often emphatic about being right instead of thinking logically and speaking civilly about reaching solutions. Instead of slamming politicians or groups or each other because of our individual "truths," our focus should be on the history of our country, its goals for the future and the kind of leadership we want for America.
We must become better educated, involved, and support any leadership that will unify this great country and keep us the leader of nations.
