Gilchrist County toddler attacked by family dog

TRENTON, Fla. - Authorities say a 3-year-old Gilchrist County boy was mauled by his family's dog.
The sheriff's office reports that the dog was chained up in the family's yard when it attacked the boy Thursday afternoon. A family friend heard the child screaming and found the dog on top of the boy.
The boy was transported to a Gainesville hospital with critical injuries.
It's not clear if the boy's parents will face any charges.
The family told animal control officials that they wanted the dog to be euthanized.
