TAMPA - The new Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates route through downtown was unveiled this week, and the response to the change has been positive, said Darrell Stefany, president of EventFest, which organizes the event.
"Property owners like that the parade is coming down their street," Stefany said. "It's a neat thing because it's a beautiful area."
Tickets for the 2010 Children's Gasparilla Parade, Gasparilla Invasion Brunch and Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates went on sale Thursday.
A pre-parade brunch is set for Jan. 30 at the Tampa Convention Center. Tickets are $63 for adults and $53 for children. The Parade of the Pirates will begin at 2 p.m. that day. Reserved bleacher tickets are $30 each. Combo tickets for the brunch and parade are $88 for adults and $78 for children.
Curtis Hixon Park, which is slated to reopen in December, will host the main stage for Gasparilla Pirate Fest on Jan. 30.
