HILLSBOROUGH...68 GAITHER...0
TAMPA - The visiting Terriers scored three touchdowns in a two-minute span late in the first quarter and cruised to an easy win at Cowboy Stadium on Friday.
The onslaught began with senior quarterback Tarean Austin's 1-yard sneak at the 2:46 mark of the first. Fourteen seconds later defensive end Arthur Johnson picked up a fumble and returned it 8 yards for a 14-0 lead. After Hillsborough blocked a Gaither punt, Jamie Knott ran in from 3 yards to make it 21-0 with 47 seconds left in the first quarter.
Austin was pulled after one possession in the second half. He finished 10-for-16 for 172 yards and one touchdown, which went for 51 yards to Charles Lovett (two catches, 93 yards). Antonio Chow rushed six times for a game-high 94 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown.
The Terriers (3-1) scored touchdowns on eight of their 11 offensive possessions. Gaither (1-3) was held to 44 yards of offense and two first downs.
After a one-point loss to Jefferson in Week 1, Hillsborough has won three straight and has scored at least 47 points in each game.
