NEED TO KNOW: This is Miami's first nonconference game after opening with wins against Florida State and Georgia Tech and losing at Virginia Tech last week. The Canes have nonconference games against FAMU and Central Florida the next two weeks. ... The Miami-Oklahoma series is tied 3-3, with the Sooners winning the last meeting 51-13 in 2007. UM is 2-1 against OU in Miami, including a 20-14 win in the 1988 Orange Bowl that gave the Canes their second national championship. ... Since opening with a 14-13 loss to BYU in Dallas, during which Heisman Trophy-winning QB Sam Bradford suffered a shoulder injury, the Sooners have posted back-to-back shutouts, against Idaho State (64-0) and Tulsa (45-0). ...
