SEFFNER - It took almost seven years, but the Armwood High football team's home winning streak is over.

In a game marred by penalties, Plant got touchdown runs from James Wilder Jr. and T.J. Glover to snap Armwood's 43-game home winning streak, 17-7.

The last time Armwood dropped a game on its home field was in the 2002 state playoffs, when Lakeland Lake Gibson defeated the Hawks 17-14.

This will be the only meeting between the teams this season since the schools are now in different classifications.

Plant got on the board first on a 22-yard run by Wilder to make it 7-0.

Plant scored with 1 minute remaining before halftime when Glover took a reverse and ran 65 yards to make it 14-0.

Armwood made it 14-7 when Eric Striker scooped up a bad snap on a punt attempt at the Plant 3-yard line and took it in for a touchdown. Striker started on the defensive line because senior Alton Bailey was suspended for violating team rules. Armwood coach Sean Callahan said the length of suspension has not been determined.

The Panthers added a field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 17-7.
