TAMPA - Closer to Spain than the tropics, the latest tropical storm of the season probably won't be around long and looks headed toward England.
The National Hurricane Center christened Tropical Storm Grace in its advisory at 11 p.m. Sunday after satellite images showed a small eye had developed and winds grew to about 60 mph.
Grace formed at the latitude roughly of New York City from an area of low pressure that hovered around the Cape Verde Islands and made a counter-clockwise loop in the Atlantic Ocean before becoming organized.
This morning, Grace had winds of about 65 mph, the highest strength forecasters expect the storm to reach. It should lose strength over the next day as it travels over cooler water and winds become less favorable for the storm.
In a day, it should be absorbed by an approaching front or a larger, nontropical storm, forecasters said.
The hurricane center is also watching a tropical wave about 1,200 miles east of the Windward Islands that could become more organized through the week.
Forecasters said there's a less-than-30 percent chance it will become to tropical cyclone in the next two days.
The wave is moving to the west at 15 to 20 mph.
Hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
