Clearwater police on Monday night arrested a man they say sold an undercover officer 1,000 Diazepam tablets.
David Mallet, 26, 1400 Alpine Road, Apt. 14, Clearwater, was charged with possession of Diazepam, three counts of sale of Diazepam, three counts of possession of Oxycontin and probation violation.
Mallet, police said, is currently on probation stemming from a drug trafficking charge brought last year.
Mallet was arrested at his home about 10 p.m. Monday, police said.
The department's vice and narcotics unit began the investigation last week after a tip said that Mallet had been dealing in large quantities of prescription pills, police said.
Officers set up a transaction for the 1,000 doses of Diazepam with an undercover detective on Monday night and Mallet was arrested without incident.
Besides the tablets involved in that transaction, 100 other pills were located in his home, police said.
