TALLAHASSEE - Florida State president T.K. Wetherell met with Coach Bobby Bowden for two hours Monday and then gathered to meet with FSU supporters Tuesday night.
That came in the wake of FSU Board of Trustees chairman Jim Smith's call for Bowden to resign after the season.
FSU officials already were working on a head coaching contract for Jimbo Fisher.
Smith and fellow trustee Les Pantin said Fisher's position must be strengthened. To do that, they said, the offensive coordinator must be given a new contract that spells out the terms of being FSU's next head coach.
Both sides on the Bowden debate have voiced opinions in comments to the media, on Facebook and through phone calls to Smith and Bowden.
"I've got millions (of calls)," Bowden said. "From all over the country. They're football fans that maybe don't pull for Florida State. They ain't hurting like us."
