Barack Obama is the third sitting U.S. president to win the award: Teddy Roosevelt won in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson won in 1919.

You don't have to be on the political right to be stunned and bewildered over why the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barack Obama. You can hear the gasps on both the right and the left:
Townhall.com, which bills itself as "the source for conservative political news," has on its homepage the headline (big and in red, unlike the other headlines): "Mockery: Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize"
On the other hand, TalkLeft.com, which bills itself as "The Online Magazine with Liberal coverage of crime-related political and injustice news," includes an entry headlined "Turn it down," which says Obama was awarded the prize "For reasons that are unfathomable."
Matt Drudge (drudgereport.com) is calling the award the "October surprise" and, like Huffington Post (huffingtonpost.com), pulled out the quote from White House staffer in an Associated Press story: "It's not April 1, is it?"
On Redstate.com, Erick Erickson assumes the Nobel prize committee must have "an affirmative action quota" and that's why Obama was given the award.
On the other hand, African American Political Pundit (aapoliticalpundit.blogspot.com) headlined the news "the first race card" and also wondered what Obama has done to deserve the award.
What's your take?
