SEFFNER - After having their 43-game on-field home winning streak snapped last week, the Hawks got back to winning ways with an easy Class 4A-District 9 victory.
Armwood (4-1, 1-0) wasted little time getting on the board, scoring three minutes in on Sherman Jessie's 34-yard run that capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive.
King (2-2, 0-1) answered when Aabid Allibhai hit a 30-yard field goal that cut the Hawks' lead to 6-3 with 2:56 left in the first quarter.
Armwood began to quickly pull away when AJ King returned the ensuing kick 98 yards for a score and Matt Jones ran in from 13 yards on the first play after a bad snap on a punt attempt gave the Hawks the ball.
Two short touchdown runs by Rayshied Melvin and a 3-yard run by quarterback Josh Grady made it 41-3 at halftime. The entire second half was played with a running clock. Backup quarterback Tanner Emmons closed the scoring with a 9-yard run with 4:43 remaining.
The Hawks limited King to 52 total yards and three first downs. This was the first time this season the Lions were held to less than 21 points.
