NEW PORT RICHEY - River Ridge may have controlled the clock, ran the ball for more yards and moved the chains more often than Hudson, but the Cobras' relied on big plays from Zack Wynn, Dylan Luke and James Tello to beat the Royal Knights in a shootout.

Hudson (3-2, 1-0 Class 4A, District 6) never trailed, but it felt like it might after River Ridge (2-4, 0-2) quarterback Kenny Toce scored his fourth touchdown (three passing) on a 1-yard sneak to make it 35-28 early in the fourth.

Two plays later, Wynn (13 of 20, 299 yards, three touchdowns) responded by eluding pressure and hitting Tello (seven catches, 206 yards) down the left sideline for an 85-yard touchdown pass.

Cobras running back Dylan Luke (11 carries, 152 yards) scored three touchdowns, from 29, 36 and 52 yards, running straight up the middle untouched by the defense. River Ridge counterpart Stavros Arianas had 177 yards on 28 carries, but fumbled late in the fourth quarter to stall the Knights' last real opportunity to come back. Linebacker Mike Powers also had a sack and forced fumble of Toce to set up the game's first score.
