LAND O' LAKES - On homecoming night and led by a swarming defense and explosive plays on offense, Land O' Lakes cruised to a shutout victory against Anclote.
The Gators defense was suffocating in the first half, sacking Sharks quarterback Phil Linton five times and limiting Anclote (0-5) to just 32 yards of offense on 23 plays. Meanwhile, the Gators offense put up 247 first-half yards in taking a 35-0 halftime lead.
Justin Tello, Alex Robinson and Tyler Peak combined at the quarterback position to complete seven of 11 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. The trio replaced starting quarterback Steven Weatherford, who was suspended from the game.
Peak ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. He also threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Will Irwin on his first pass attempt of the season. Irwin finished with two touchdown receptions, both in the first quarter.
The Sharks were shut out for the second week in a row. They were led by Kris Aratchiysky, who carried the ball 19 times for 131 yards.
