LARGO - With his team's offense sputtering badly the past few weeks and watching Leto tie the game at 7 in the third quarter, Largo coach Rick Rodriguez had seen enough. He decided to go to the bullpen and insert freshman quarterback Juwan Brown.
Instant offense.
Brown ignited the lethargic Packers offense, scoring two touchdowns as Largo (5-1) woke up, beating Leto 28-9.
While Brown only carried the ball nine times for 44 yards, he was clearly a weapon to be concerned with. Three of his runs were for double-digits, including the first of his two TDs, a 10-yard run that put Largo up for good at 14-7.
Brown's second touchdown was a 1-yard plunge.
"Coach just told me not to get nervous," Brown said of Rodriguez's instructions. "And I didn't, not really."
While Brown was clearly a spark, he still committed a freshman mistake: Getting sacked in the end zone for a safety.
Jamarious Boatwright all but closed the door on Leto's (1-4) upset bid when he scooped up an errant Leto lateral and rolled 78 yards for a touchdown and a 21-7 lead.
