RIVERVIEW - The Dixie Hollins Rebels entered Friday night's game with hopes of claiming their first victory and dealing the Spoto Spartans their first loss. A solid offense and stubborn defense would not allow the Spartans to lose on their homecoming night.
Spoto improved to a county-best 6-0, and 2-0 in Class 3A-District 9 play, while Dixie Hollins dropped to 0-6 and 0-2.
In a game where tempo was set early, Spoto scored on a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown by Dominic Addison.
Spoto would later score again in the first quarter on a Jamar Burns 65-yard run.
Spoto would finish the quarter the way it started it, with another interception return for a touchdown. Donald Smith claimed it for the Spartans, scoring on a 60-yard return.
The Rebels would answer in the second quarter with a 27-yard touchdown run by Cedric Williams.
After another Spartans touchdown, the Rebels would answer with one of their own. However, the Spartans would not let up with an offensive assault that proved to be too much for the Rebels.
