LAND O'LAKES - Wesley Chapel and Sunlake needed two overtimes for a victory, but it was the Wildcats who came out on top.
"Now that was a football game," Wesley Chapel coach John Castelamare said. "That was a super game for my young guys to come back and win."
Chris Pierre-Charles scored a 3-yard run in the second overtime to give the Wildcats (2-4, 1-2) victory, after the Seahawks (2-3, 2-1) failed to score in the second overtime.
Sunlake scored first on a 84-yard kickoff return by Jamal Jones, but Wesley Chapel answered on a 1-yard score by quarterback Keegan Tanner.
Sunlake took a 14-6 lead on a 2-yard score by Rashaud Daniels, who led the game with 79 yards rushing. The Wildcats tied the game with less than four minutes left after Sunlake quarterback Jacob Jackson lost a fumble, allowing Wildcats running back Jon Mahan to score on a 26-yard scamper on the next play. Tanner added the two-point conversion to send the game to overtime.
The two teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime: a 5-yard run by Diamon Bagwell and a 1-yarder by Alex Rodriguez.
