CRYSTAL RIVER - Wiregrass Ranch High running back Josh Johnson scored on a 10-yard run to give the Bulls (4-1) a 14-7 win against Crystal River (3-2).
Crystal River dominated offensively, outgaining the Bulls 223-105 yards rushing and 76-13 passing. Wiregrass Ranch had just 3 yards rushing in the first quarter, and 24 in the first half.
Crystal River took the lead in the second quarter when quarterback Macon Newcomer eluded a defender and fired the ball for a 32-yard touchdown to Heath Hernandez.
With their offense struggling to move the ball, they had no yards passing at halftime, Wiregrass Ranch's special teams came through to tie the game before halftime. The Bulls' Antwan Prince took a punt at his own 10-yard line and returned it 90 yards for the score with only 38 seconds to go in the half.
Johnson had 13 carries for 79 yards, most of which came in the second half, and gave the Bulls the lead in the fourth quarter on his 10-yard run.
Crystal River, which lost three fumbles, had a chance to rally, but was stopped on a fourth-and-1 with 1:29 to play, allowing the Bulls to run out the clock.
