A 48-year-old Treasure Island man who spent much of Sunday drinking and watching football was found floating face down in a hot tub and is believed to have drowned, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says.
Charles Higgins was found in the tub at 6760 W. Flamingo Way S. in South Pasadena just before midnight Sunday. Three men are roommates at the house, the sheriff's office said.
One of the occupants, Gerald Ward, 26, and his girlfriend told deputies they had spent the evening watching football with Higgins, who was an acquaintance, at a Treasure Island bar. They said the man had spent most of the day there, drinking.
Ward invited Higgins to the home, where the group sat in the hot tub. Ward told deputies that at one point Higgins was in the hot tub by himself for about a half-hour. When Ward went to check on Higgins, he found Higgins floating face-down and called 911.
Paramedics rushed the man to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
