An 86-year-old man was given a careless driving ticket this morning after he crashed into a Dunedin restaurant.

Eight people who were in the Country Boy restaurant when the car came in through the front window were slightly injured.

Pinellas County sheriff's deputies said two of the injured were taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital, the others left the scene.

The incident happened at 11 a.m., when Joseph Tardif, 86, and Jeannette Tardif, 87, both of whom live at 2586 Windwood Drive, Clearwater, pulled up to the eatery to have lunch.

Tardif told deputies his foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. The late model Mercury Marquis lurched forward and crashed through the window, pushing booths into the center of the room.
The Tardifs were not injured.
