The Outback Bowl has extended its agreement with the Big Ten Conference through the 2013 season, bowl officials announced today.
"The Big Ten and Outback Bowl are a perfect fit," Bowl President Jim McVay said. "We love the teams, bands, fans and the tradition and history of the conference."
The game, which has been played in Tampa as the Outback Bowl since 1993, will continue to be played at 11 a.m. on New Year's Day, pitting a Big Ten team against a Southeastern Conference opponent.
"With the number of Big Ten alumni in Florida, this game is a natural fit and should continue to provide compelling matchups on the field," Big Ten commissioner James E. Delany said in a statement.
In May, Outback Steakhouse agreed to extend its sponsorship of the game for the same four-year period.
Iowa defeated South Carolina in the most recent Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.
