GIBSONTON - Abby Rolfe is a three-sport athlete at East Bay High.
The only thing preventing her from trying her hand at a fourth is a scheduling conflict.
"I love flag football too, but the season takes place at the same time as tennis, and I just can't do it," Rolfe said. "Otherwise, I'd be playing football."
As it stands, she has settled for being a member of the school's golf, soccer and tennis teams.
"Please don't ask me to pick a favorite sport - I just can't do it," she said.
Rolfe is in the middle of her third season on the Indians' golf squad, and she's been pleasantly surprised by her own play.
"I didn't think I'd be very good because I really haven't played any golf since last season," Rolfe said.
She hopes to shoot par in a round before the end of the season.
"Abby has natural physical ability," said Timothy Mays, East Bay's golf coach. "I believe her family has been very instrumental in developing her as a student-athlete."
Indeed, Rolfe admits the top priority in her household is that she scores well inside the classroom.
"My dad said he wanted me to focus more on school work this year," Rolfe said. "There's so much work to do, but that's definitely going to be a big goal for me."
Another goal for the junior is college.
Though she is undecided about which school she'd like to attend, Rolfe is interested in becoming a forensic scientist or a forensic anthropologist.
"I like biology in school, so I figure that would be a good field to study," she said.
Until then, she's going to continue playing as many sports as she can fit into her busy schedule.
"The main thing I like about golf is the feeling when I hit a really good shot," Rolfe said. "That's a really hard thing to do, so when I do it, it feels great."
