TAMPA - The city's reclaimed water system will be shut down beginning Monday for more than a week, utility officials said.
Reclaimed water will not be available to customers during this time. Officials said the shutdown is part of a routine flushing program to improve reclaimed water quality.
The shutdown will not affect many households. Only a fraction of residential customers, about 3,500 out of 100,000, are connected to the city's reclaimed-water system.
The work will begin Monday and is expected to be done by Oct. 25, city officials said.
Crews from the city's contractor on the project, Volt Telecom Group, will be taking photographs and videos in neighborhoods served by the city's reclaimed water lines.
The work could also cause detours and traffic delays in some neighborhoods.
