RIDGEWOOD...35 CENTRAL...0
NEW PORT RICHEY - Ridgewood used a strong defense and a workhouse performance from tailback Cameron Rodriguez to post a victory against the visiting Brooksville Central Bears on Thursday night.
Tommy Kinder set the tone early, returning the opening kickoff 70 yards to the Central 25-yard line.
Five plays later, quarterback Nick Martino took it in from 15 yards out for a 7-0 lead.
Rodriguez carried the load for the Rams most of the night, totaling 157 yards on 27 carries.
His 1-yard plunge gave the Rams a 14-0 halftime lead.
Ridgewood used two defensive scores to take a 28-0 in the third quarter.
Martino stepped in front of a pass and took it back 48 yards for a score, and on the very next play after the kickoff, Scott Kujak picked up a fumble on the 15-yard line and walked in untouched.
The win improved Ridgewood to 2-5 on the season.
