BOURNE, Mass. - "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch has been released from a Massachusetts jail after completing a sentence for evading taxes on the $1 million he won during the CBS reality show's first season.

Barnstable County Sheriff spokesman Roy Lyons said Hatch was freed at about 6 a.m. Friday from the Barnstable County Jail in Bourne, southeast of Boston. Lyons said he was taken home to Rhode Island.

Hatch was imprisoned in 2006. He was released earlier this year to home confinement in Newport, R.I.

In August, he was jailed for the remainder of his term for giving unauthorized television interviews.
Hatch claims prison officials were retaliating after he criticized the prosecutor and judge in his case.

Hatch must serve three years of supervised release, complete a mental health program and pay his back taxes.
