TAMPA - The three-headed running back corps of Middleton proved to be too much for Steinbrenner.
The trio, comprised of seniors Earnest Mingo, Maurice Campbell and Vasty Paul, combined for 296 yards and five touchdowns to lead Middleton. Campbell finished with 121 rushing yards, Paul had 88 yards and Mingo had 87.
Middleton (4-2) jumped on Steinbrenner early, scoring in the first two minutes of the game thanks to a 10-yard pass from Willie Clay to Justin Sanders. The Tigers' defense scored next on a 64-yard interception return by linebacker/safety Josh Pease.
In the second quarter, the Tigers opened up their running game. Paul set up his 1-yard touchdown run after a tough 25-yard rush on the preceding play. After the Warriors were forced to punt, Campbell scored on a 36-yard run on the Tigers' following possession. Then Mingo, not to be outdone, scored on a strong 58-yard run. Another touchdown pass from Clay to Sanders put the Tigers up 42-0.
Steinbrenner put points on the board late in the first half on a 14-yard touchdown from Christian Carriere to Toby Antigha.
