PLANT CITY - Cortez Hargrett took a handoff on the second play of the game and raced 75 yards for a touchdown in his only carry of the night, leading Plant City to a victory against Gaither. With the win, the Cowboys were handed their third consecutive shutout.
Raider running back Dazmond Patterson ran the ball 28 times for 146 yards as Plant City rushed for 311 yards as a team.
Gaither, which last scored Sept. 25 against Freedom, got off to a rough start against Plant City in its first possession. Gaither faced fourth-and-inches from its own 38-yard line and failed to reach a first down, handing the ball back to Plant City deep in Cowboys territory. Plant City took advantage and scored its second touchdown of the night when quarterback Bennie Coney rushed in from 16 yards out.
Coney scored again, just prior to the half, running in 8 yards for a touchdown.
On the night, Coney ran 13 times for 62 yards. He also completed 12 passes in 19 attempts for 122 yards and two interceptions.
The lone highlight for Gaither was quarterback Shug Oyegunie's pass to John Pernes for a 36-yard completion in the third quarter.
