TAMPA - Tampa Bay Tech improved to 5-1 with a win over neighboring King.
The Titans were led by fullback Maurice Hagens' two rushing scores, quarterback Jonathan Williams' two touchdown passes and a defense that allowed only one Lions touchdown.
Special teams contributed on Tech's first two scores. A fake punt on fourth-and-14 led to an 8-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Allen Covington. Tech blocked a field goal from the Lions (2-3), setting up a 44-yard scoring pass from Williams to CJ Jackson.
King sophomore quarterback Greg Windham found Derrick Bass for a 5-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but was limited to just 1-for-10 passing for 1 yard in the second half by the TBT defense. King finished with 131 yards of offense compared to Tech's 388.
Hagens carried the ball 17 times for 105 yards. Jonathan Williams led the Titans' passing attack and was 5 of 11 for 146 passing yards.
