Death by petition?
Gov. Charlie Crist is so anxious for a U.S. Senate seat that he will apparently do anything for votes. Now he has signed a death warrant for Paul Beasley Johnson, even though Johnson has appeals pending. This came about because the sheriff of Polk County started a petition for the warrant. And now another group has started a petition for the execution of another man on death row. Is this how a governor should decide whether or not to sign a warrant for execution?

Targeting elderly
Recently in this retirement community, I observed five Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies running a sting to catch old people exceeding 20 mph in their golf carts. With all the crime going on, who cares if someone speeds in a golf cart? Why are they wasting their time and our money on such a trivial thing? Probably because it rakes in a $300 fine.
