Home sales to kin
First-time Homebuyers: Heads up!
Read about the tax credit of $8,000 before you buy the house. Not many buyers know that you cannot buy from a relative and receive the tax credit.
The lenders are not well informed of this as it has nothing to do with them making the loan. It is strictly an IRS issue.
When you file your tax return, that's when you will be required to sign a form stating the seller was or was not a relative. It is too late then to qualify for the tax credit.
I can see trouble ahead at tax time.
I know it is supposed to prevent scams and fraud, but what about us honest people?
We have owned a rental house for several years, but because of age, health and the economy, we need to sell. We want to sell to our granddaughter, but she won't qualify for the tax credit because we are relatives.
This needs to be corrected.

Slow paper work
The Solar Energy Rebate Program apparently needs more energy.
We purchased our solar water heater in July of 2008 and submitted our application. Our first rejection letter took seven months to get (we had left blank one of the 73 spaces for our home address).
We refiled in February 2009 and just learned that we have finally been approved. We can expect a check in February 2010! Wow! Only two years to process the paperwork?
And the government wants us to believe that they can run our health care system? Please.

Property insurance
Insurance companies are crooked.
The house I live in has had no hurricane claims in the 55 years it has existed, yet what excuse do insurance companies use to cancel policies and raise rates?
You guessed it. Non-existent hurricanes.

Voter Fraud
International election monitors have announced that they found widespread voter fraud in Afghanistan. Apparently more than 100,000 votes were phonies. Even President Karzai admitted that many of his supporters were "over-zealous." This may lead to a runoff election.
I didn't realize that President Obama's former employer, ACORN, had international reach of a magnitude capable of determining the outcome of close elections across the globe.
Impressive.

White House moves
So the current administration is going after Fox News.
If you and all other media don't side with Fox on this one, you may find the White House coming after you next.
Just something to think about.
